IBESHI: NO VALID REASON FOR MY DISQUALIFICATION BY PDP SCREENING COMMITTEE

  • CALABAR— MR Emmnauel Ibeshi, first National Publicity Secretary of the People’s Democratic Party, PDP and governorship aspirant in Cross River State has protested his disqualification by the screening Committee of the party calling it an act of injustice.

Ibsehi who stated this on Saturday in Calabar while addressing his supporters said he was not given any reason as grounds for his disqualification after he had been screened and duly issued a certificate of clearance by the committee.

‘I am qualified to contest for the office of governor of Cross River State by the criteria contained in the Constitution of Nigeria, by the stipulations of the Electoral Act as amended and by the Constitution and guidelines of the PDP

“There is no valid ground for my disqualification and I have been provided no such ground, indeed there has been no attempt by the party to justify or even explain its action in cancelling the clearance certificate earlier issued to me to contest the election”

He said the committee was only carrying out a devious agenda by disqualifying all other governorship aspirants in order to clear the coast for Senator Ben Ayade, the incumbent to get the party’s ticket unopposed.

“We understand that governor Ben Ayade is particularly irked that he is the only governor in the South south zone facing opposition in the primaries for the party’s ticket”
Ibshi said he is shocked by the decision of the party and therefore ready to contest his disqualification and seek remedies from the party.

‘The party collected huge sums of money from me, induced me to spend money on campaigns, and at the eleventh hour turned round and without any reason to withdraw the clearance certificate earlier issued to me”

He said what the party has done is breach of his fundamental l human rights without any fair hearing

‘ the main reason behind this is Governor Ben Ayade having run an extremely incompetent government is afraid of being defeated if the people are givn an opportunity to decide freely between me and him”,
