EASTER MESSAGE BY THE DG, NCWD, BARR MARY EKPERE

Director-General of the National Centre for Women Development (NCWD) Mrs Mary Ekpere-Eta, has called on Nigerian women to rededicate themselves to building safe and prosperous communities.

Ekpere-Eta made the call in her Easter message, adding that Nigerian women have over the years contributed immensely to the peace and progress of their families and communities.

She said women are accustomed to making sacrifices which are reminiscent of the ultimate sacrifice made by Jesus Christ, whose trial and crucifixion is remembered during Easter.

She pleaded with Nigerian women to pray for a peaceful transition at the federal and state level, saying that Nigeria’s stability can be traced to the prayers of its citizens, especially the womenfolk.

The NCWD Director-General also asked that women lead their families in remembering members of the armed forces fighting to keep country safe; the less privileged and even those in prisons in their prayers this season.

“Easter is that time that we remember the incomparable sacrifice of Jesus Christ. We look back and admire Christ’s great show of love, his humility and compassion for the poor.

“It is my prayer Nigerian women will be reinvigorated by the essence of Easter, to display these virtues which Christ lived by in their homes and the society at large”, the statement read in part.
