It is with great shock and trauma that I received the sad news of the death of Distinguished Senator Rose Okoji Oko representing my Senatorial District, Cross River North.
The late Senator Oko, who died at a UK medical facility, was a second term member of the Red Chamber of the National Assembly and the first female to represent Ogoja/Yala Federal Constituency and Cross River North Senatorial District in the National Assembly. She is the serving chairman, Senate Committee on Trade and Investment.
Her demise and home going has exited from our clime a thorough breed politician, educationist, administrator, pious Christian, a woman of peace who cultivated a culture of patience, resilience and honesty in conduct and candor.
Her unexpected journey to the world beyond has plunged everyone into a state of deep mourning. We will certainly miss her sterling quality, wisdom and leadership.
I commiserate with her immediate family, the government and people of CR-NORTH, Cross River State, the President of the Senate, Senators and members of the National Assembly in mourning her departure.
I am however consoled by the fact that she distinguished herself in the service of her fatherland as a seasoned Distinguished Senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
Her legacies shall endure even as i pray for her gentle soul to rest in perfect peace, amen.
