The jostle for the replacement of the senatorial seat hitherto occupied by the late Dr Mrs Rose Okoji Oko, who because of death ceased to be a senator, has earnestly begun. She represented Cross River North Senatorial District under the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.
Barely one month after her death, different interest groups and heavy weight politicians from the zone have indicated readiness to take part in a fresh election expected to hold in accordance to INEC guidelines.
Solomon Island gathered that the latest entrant into the race is the incumbent Vice Chancellor of the University of Calabar, Prof Zana Itunbe .
Zana’s entrance into the race has sparked off viral negative reactions from different quarters; particularly because he is from Obudu where incumbent Governor Ayade Benedict hails from.
Reacting to Prof Zana Akpagu’s entrance into the race, the All Progressives Congress candidate for Bekwara/Obudu/Obanliku federal constituency in the 2019 general elections, Koko Dan has taken a position in support of a candidate from YALA LGA to replace the late Senator.
In a post on his personal Facebook timeline, he said last couple of years a very sound and inspiring Yala son, Mr. Peter Agi lost his job as the Bursar of the prestigious University of Calabar to the internal politics of the Academia. This was a huge disregard to the great people Yala. Yala in her usual independence of kindness overlooked this snore and moved on.
“Today, Mr. Peter Agi, a chartered accountant runs off the bench of exercising his trained virtuosity after contributing so much to the formation and professional running of the finance and budgetary facet of the institution.”
“Less than a month today and counting, Yala lost her Crown. The deceased Dr. Rose Okoji Oko. (The Rose of the Senate) who throughout modern history gave her life to serving Cross River State in all her endeavor.
“Rose wasn’t just a Senator, she gave her best whilst in her very struggling air to breath.
“Her sacrifices wasn’t for Yala alone but for us the entire Ogoja Nation, and her contributions illuminated and embellished the informed potentiality of every Cross Riverian to the World.
“Whoever wants to run for senate now outside of Yala/Ogoja will be afflicting Yala more pain. And who is Yala? The community of extremely loving people whose business is Gods concerned.
“Nobody should be deceived that Money wins election. If it does, i would have been in the National Assembly.
“Nobody should be deceived that Yala has nobody, God hates injustice and he will elevate a stone to stand for Yala and the equitable power sharing among us in the North.
“We cannot be taking Yala faculty of kindness for fancy. what remains of Yala if we take her seed of senate away from her at this time of her enduring pain?
Patience is a virtue and three years is just here. The only poster solemnly deserving of the cyberspace of Cross River State now is that housing the obituary of our Mother, Rose Oko.
Any other in the contrary is an exhibition of greed, aggravated hates, and a total malignant regards for the Yala Nation,
LADIES AND GENTLEMEN AFFLICTION SHALL NOT BEFALL YALA THE THIRD TIME!
