LG ELECTION: NON-INDIGENES COMMENDS GOV AYADE BENEDICT

Ahead of the much anticipated Cross River State local governments’ elections, non-indigenes resident in the state have continued to pour encomiums on Governor Ayade Benedict for listening to the yearnings of the people at the grassroots.

The election which was earlier postponed due to the Coronavirus pandemic has now been rescheduled to Saturday 30th of May 2020.

Alhaji Abdulkarim Adamu…. Senior.Special Assistant ( SSA ) Non-Indigene Affairs to Governor Ayade while responding to newsmen said Non-Indigenes, businessmen, youths and women all over the State are thanking His Excellency for taking such a proactive decision to conduct local government council election in the state.

“Saturday’s local council election in the State will entrench governance at the grassroots level which is the closet to the people. It is also set to test the strength of politicians on their claims to popularity among the grassroots and show the possible path the state would tread in 2023.

Expressing optimism that the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) would emerge top in the election, SSA Abdulkarim has urged non-indigenes to come out enmasse to vote, continue to be peaceful and not do anything that will puncture the existing peace and harmony in the state.

In a related development, the leadership of the Cross River State Business Round Table, Alhaji mudi & Mr Chinedu Nwakwu has expressed appreciation to His Excellency for taking the decision to conduct local government election in the state.

“On behalf of the Cross River State Business Round Table, it is my privilege today to thank Gov Ayade Benedict for the forthcoming local government polls across the state. The governor deserve for the decision for enthroning democratic rule at the local level which will in turn boost governance, economic activities and democratic dividends.

Government at the local government solves the problems of the people at the grass-root level. The various needs such as construction and maintenance of roads, availability of water, construction of schools etc. are taken always taken care of by the local government.
