Ogalama Foundation Empowers Yala Women

 

The Ogalama Foundation today empowered women, youth, farmers and the less privileged in Yala LGA with vocational and specialized skills in different aspects of manpower training and development in the private sector of the economy.

This is with a view to providing a sustainable and viable pool of indigenous trained self employed individuals in the society who can fend for themselves, and train and retrain others in the society.

Speaking at the occasion, the President/Founder of the foundation and Hon Commissioner for local government affairs, CRS, Hon Stella Oreme Odey-Ekpo commended the Industrial Training Fund (ITF) for the partnership which is aimed at creating job opportunities, self employment and sustainable self reliance, growth and development for the beneficiaries.

“We have a pool of the less privileged in the society that needs to be empowered and Ogalama Foundation is committed to help train, develop and adequately empower our people with the necessary skills to enable them become entrepreneurs and self reliant.”

She further said the trainees are exposed to new trend in Entrepreneurial developement and have practical hands on approach which is necessary for impactful Skills Acquisition.

The beneficiaries had undergone intensive training for months on Cutting, Sewing and Pattern Making Course on Tailoring and fashion designing Specialization.

At the occasion, sewing machines and certificates of training were given to all the participants. Several farmers present also got cash donations to support their farming and transport fares.

Earlier OGALAMA FOUNDATION launched the “OHOLEYI MEDICAL OUTREACH which gave out free health care services by providing free medic aid and care to people with different health challenges last year. http://solomonislandblog.com.ng gathered that the medicare outreach was a way of giving back to the community.

The event which took place at the head office of the foundation at Okuku- Yala in Yala LGA had in attendance the Executive Chairman of Ogoja Council, Hon Emmanuel Ishabor as Chairman of the occasion, Vice chairman Yala Council, Mrs Felicia Undelikwo, the Ogadachichi 1 of Yala, Chief O.C Bravo, Leaders of Yala and Ogoja Legislative Councils, SSA General Duties to Gov. Ayade, Wonor Austin Ibu amongst others.
