Mr Peter Akpanke and The Akpanke Foundation

In Bekwarra/Obudu/Obanliku Federal Constituency, I hear that while the mention of the name Mr Peter Akpanke , Founder/President of The Akpanke Foundation brings joy to many, it is actually the beginning of wisdom for some politicans.

Whenever he visits home, the entire community is thrown into jubilation and enveloped with cheers of joy and excitement. Sadly enough, the reverse is the case for those afraid of his towering political image. When he sneezes, they catch pneumonia. When he laughs, they have migraine & whenever he talks, it is HBP for them.

It is no longer news that the name which has become a household one has been reverberating for obvious good reasons in the recent past because of his goodwill. He has donated several wheelchairs to the physically challenged, organized free medical care for the young and aged plus numerous financial support and assistance to the needy amongst others.

Over the weekend, to the chagrin of naysayers he dazzled his followers again with a wave of Empowerment which has given him a new name as PETER AKPANKE: The Obanliku Man redefining Empowerment.

As part of his Easter Empowerment Program, he personally equipped and commissioned a standard laundry shop, well furnished restaurant and an ultra modern barbing saloon for three of his supporters. Apart from equipping and furnishings, the President of The Akpanke Foundation, TAF also went as far as paying the annual shops rent pending when those businesses would have been able to stand and pay rents comfortably on its own.

The Akpanke Foundation has equally revealed its goal to prevent youth exploitation by empowering young people to improve on their Entrepreneurial skills, growth and development not only in Bekwarra/Obudu/Obanliku but across the state as part of its effort in tackling the effects of unemployment, joblessness and youth restiveness.

In a statement made available to http://solomonislandblog.com.ng, the non-governmental organization, TAF stated that it has moved beyond raising awareness to averting behavior change as it applies a Communication for Development (C4D), an evidence-based and participatory framework to design its activities for the less privileged and downtrodden in the society.

Going further, the foundation is set to roll out programs to transform and restore place of Youth in our nations development with grassroot youth organization that espouses democratic principles and political education to deepen democracy and encourage active participation of the youth using economic empowerment as tool self reliance and sufficiency.

This is the time to encourage many Akpanke’s of this world to emulate what Mr Peter Akpanke is doing in his own little way with The Akpanke Foundation.
