BRIGADIER GENERAL Ejim Emekah from Bekwarra Local Government Area of Cross River State is the first person from Bekwarra to have attained such a prestigious and high profile rank in the Nigerian Army.
When the history of the military vis-a-vis Bekawarra LGA would undoubtedly be written, Brigadier General Ejim’s name will be in gold. But by far his enduring national legacy shall be in the realms of knowledge, educational development and how many sons and daughters of Bekwarra he would have influenced or facilitated into the military. This is so because statistics show that Bekwarra local government doesn’t have enough manpower in the military.
Brigadier Ejim like most great soldiers is a soldier per excellence who knows that sustainable peace and progress in any community can only be achieved through knowledge and enlightenment, so he should place unprecedented high premium on the motivation of young men and women from his community to join the army beginning from the Nigerian Military School (NMS) and affiliates up to the Nigerian Defence Academy (NDA) including the Short Service recruitment. It is thus, this rare feat that will unite him with his fellow kinsmen.
The Nigerian Army University, Biu (NAUB) in Borno State is the first and only Army University in the Lake Chad basin region of Africa comprising Cameroon, Chad, Niger and the Central Africa Republic. The institution would operate under different political, economic and social orientations. The development of manpower (doctors, lawyers, bankers, engineers, etc.) would naturally have far reaching growth and development indices for national harmony and stability as sections of the country jostle for limited opportunities in the Army , nay the Nigerian Military. Bekwarra sons and daughters should be encouraged and motivated to gain admissions into the University.
Like i said earlier, when the history of the military vis-a-vis Bekawarra LGA would undoubtedly be written, Brigadier General Ejim’s name will be in gold.
I congratulate him on his well deserved promotion at this auspicious time.
