CR-NORTH SENATORIAL DISTRICT: JOE AGI, SAN IN FOCUS

After almost twenty one years of uninterrupted PDP strong hold in CR -NORTH Senatorial district, the party will for the first time face its biggest intra/inter party challenge as the race for Senate replacement has commenced in earnest.

Political gladiators have already started oiling their political machineries and perfecting their game plans ahead of the bye election. The jostling is for the replacement of the senatorial seat hitherto occupied by the late Senator Rose Okoji Oko, who passed on earlier this year.

Variously, the election has been described as not just a battle of PDP versus “PDP” but PDP vs APC. This is solely because the All Progressives Congress, APC is set to put forward their best for the vacant seat.

As we countdown to the election proper, on the spotlight today on www.solomonislandblog.com.ng is Joe Odey Agi, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN), from Yala LGA of Cross River State.

He is a renowned legal practitioner, businessman, politician, philanthropist and an advocate of good governance who has carved a niche for himself over the years in the legal profession; deepening legal jurisprudence, adding value chain for sustainable growth and development at levels in the society.

Joe Agi has consistently contributed his quota to community growth and sustainable development through human capital initiatives, philanthropy, empowerment and educational scholarships to mention a few.

With a cool ambience, gentle, focused and charismatic with an enormous wealth of knowledge of governance and leadership, he is a grassroots politician with a rich and intimidating resume’.

Only recently, concerned about the difficulties faced by the less privileged ones in the midst of the lock-down directives and other measures from government to curb the spread of the Covid-19 Pandemic, Chief Agi reached out to scores of families in the Northern part of Cross River State.

The palliatives taken to the area on his behalf by a team of volunteers included 1000 bags of 50kg stone-free-rice and 1000 cartons of instant noodles, cash supports among other items.

The Leader of the team who distributed the food items and other relief materials, Mr Mike Ijim said Chief Agi has always been at home with his people and never forgets his roots.

“This gesture is to demonstrate Chief Agi’s love and concern for the people as Covid-19 ravages both mankind, the economy, the less privileged and vulnerable who are mostly hit since they have no formal source of livelihood”, Mr Ijim said.

Speaking recently to a cross section of Stakeholders from Yala, Ogoja, Bekwarra, Obudu and Obanliku LGA’s on the forthcoming bye-election, Joe Agi said CR-NORTH senatorial district will witness a new era of better representation, away from what is presently obtainable, if voted in as senator.

“With my vast background and experience in law, politics, governance and leadership, my enormous experience garnered over the years has undoubtedly placed me in a better position to secure the deliverables to reposition, reconnect and redirect Cross River North to national limelight if elected”.

The legal luminary further stated that he is honestly moved by the sincere desire to serve his people, which is why if voted, he will bring his enormous wealth of practical knowledge and national contacts to bear which will in turn yield better representation for the people.

Chief Agi, the first and only Senior Advocate of Nigeria from Yala LGA was a governorship aspirant in the 2015 election in the state. He is aspiring to represent Cross River North Senatorial District under the platform of the All Progressives Congress, APC.
