He has consistently contributed his quota to community growth and sustainable development through human capital initiatives, philanthropy, empowerment and educational scholarships to mention a few.
With a cool ambience, gentle, focused and charismatic with an enormous wealth of knowledge on governance and leadership, he is a grassroots politician with a rich and intimidating resume’.
Dr Goodluck Ebele Jonathan, GCFR
Former President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan, a man who has also been highly eulogized for furthering the course of democracy in Nigeria. His life has always been about service. He has focused on serving his Creator, family and fatherland and the universe.
He rosed from unknown Zoology teacher to president of Africa’s most populous nation, Nigeria.
In his early days in school, he said he had no shoes, no school bags. There were days he had only one meal… he walked miles and crossed rivers to school every day. Didn’t have power, didn’t have generators, studied with lanterns, but he never despaired.
Fellow Nigerians, if I could make it, you, too, can make it!” he said when he was elected in 2011 on a wave of optimism, he always said.
While conceding power to President Muhammadu Buhari as incumbent president in 2015, he said:
“I thank all Nigerians once again for the great opportunity I was given to lead this country and assure you that I will continue to do my best at the helm of national affairs until the end of my tenure. I have conveyed my personal best wishes to General Muhammadu Buhari.May God Almighty continue to bless the Federal Republic of Nigeria.”
Professor Florenc Banku Obi
Professor Florence Banku Obi, is an established and accomplished professor of Special Education.
On the 1st of December 2020, history was made when she was sworn-in as the 11th substantive Vice Chancellor of the University of Calabar being the first female VC of the 45-year-old citadel of learning.
In less than no time her vision to reposition the University in line with global best practices to a foremost Ivory Tower for the blossoming of quality teaching and learning, research and community service towards the production of quality graduates and research outputs, including publications that are relevant to the 21st century economies, and in line with the fourth industrial revolution is yielding positive results.
The Vice Chancellor’s sterling performance so far is a testament that what a man can do, a woman can do better.
Professor Ernest Asikong
Professor Ernest Bassey Etta Asikong holds; B.Sc, M.Sc and Ph.D in Microbiology with specific bias in Environmental Microbiology and Biotechnology.
He was Acting Head of the Department of Microbiology, my Examination Officer and at another time Academic Adviser in the department of Microbiology, Unical.
He is one time Chairman Nigerian Environmental Society-NES Cross River State Chapter.
Professor Asikong is currently the Dean Alumni Affairs, Unical.
Dr. Dornckliamz Enamhe
Dornckliamz Enamhe is currently the Deputy Director DOCON University of Calabar and Special Adviser New Media to His Excellency, Governor Ben Ayade of Cross River State.
A one time front line Peoples Democratic Party, PDP aspirant for Bekwarra/Obudu/ Obanliku Federal Constituency in 2019, he is a brand and a household name who has remain as consistent as the Northern Star.
Also called “Mr. Think Cross River”, Dr. Enamhe is the immediate past SSA on Branding and Communication to Governor Ben Ayade.
Before then he had served as Chief of Staff to late John Okpa, the former Deputy Governor of the state and SA Youths to Governor Liyel Imoke.
He is one of the founding members of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP and has remained unwavering in his support for the party over the years.
Enamhe initiated the Think Cross River Brand which focused on sensitizing Cross River indigenes on appreciating the diversity and resourcefulness of the state in order to attract investors; promoted the State brand both locally and nationally on Print and electronic media; communicated product value, quality and style to educate and entice potential investors to Cross River State.
The Think Cross River Initiative also wrote media alerts and developed social media campaigns to promote the Government activities; snapped professional quality photographs to use on social media channels for promotional campaigns and created awareness to innovate and encourage youth participation in the Cross River State Dream
A graduate of the University of Calabar. He is a creative, resourceful and flexible professional, seasoned administrator able to adapt to changing priorities and maintain a positive attitude and strong work ethics with a particular strength in bridging the gaps among people through Interpersonal relations.
He is also a visionary challenge driven successful Grassroots leader in both academic and community areas. A natural and persuasive communicator recognized both locally and internationally for keen ability to energize and inspire individuals to work towards achieving their common goals and excel in creating consensus among divergent groups.
He is a passionate politician who has devoted more than 20 years to providing a stimulating environment for political matters by playing active roles in civic programs and interacting with media representatives.
A principled, disciplined, well driven Environmental Lawyer with a “can do attitude”, he possesses a strong inner motivational skills to excel with the intent of making definitive impact and performance history of thought leadership ethics.
