A Civil Society group, Coalition for Educational Advancement, CEA, has praised the DG, Cross River State Scholarship Board, Nuella Tessy Anyin , for her commitment to ensuring bursary is paid to students of Cross River State origin.
The National Coordinator, Mr Ita Uwem Bassey made the commendation in a statement in Calabar on Friday.
Ita said that the government through its scholarship board had concluded arrangements of bursary payments for the 2022/2023 academic session.
He admonished students to disregard the speculation that a few students were planning a mass protest against non-payment of bursaries for 2022/2023 academic sessions because the DG has assured that bursary will be paid.
Ita said that plans were ongoing with the Scholarship Board in collaboration with the Cross River State Government to ensure that any outstanding payments would be made.
He said: “the DG Scholarship Board has always reaffirmed her unwavering dedication to the welfare of indigenous students of the state, as efforts are ongoing to ensure that disbursement of outstanding payments is made.
“This is evidenced in the last communication between the Cross River State Scholarship Board executives led by Ms Anyin and the coalition with other stakeholders in attendance.
“We are resolute in our commitment to ensuring that the welfare of indigenous students is met,” he said.
He urged the students to remain peaceful.
“Through dialogue, commitment and strategic collaboration, we can continue to uphold the excellence of our great state,” he added.
