A non-governmental organization, Princess Barbara Agoye Foundation has donated education materials to a Primary school with underprivileged pupils in Obudu Local Government Area of Cross River State.
The founder of the foundation, Princess Barbara Agoye , while presenting the materials to pupils of the beneficiary school, at Community Primary School, Unimukung, Ukwel-Obudu and St Patrick’s Primary School recently, said that the foundation is out to inspire learning at the developmental stage of the Nigerian child.
According to her, “we cannot ignore the fact that every child needs quality education in building the future workforce of our nation, Nigeria.”
She noted that Princess Barbara Agoye Foundation is dedicated to supporting the SDG goals on education which maintains that a child should be bequeathed with basic education and every other thing will follow. That’s the universal basic education.
The foundation provided exercise books, textbooks, uniforms and other educational materials, and including handling school uniforms for pupils in the primary school.
“The Foundation thought of what to do to ease the pressure on parents and decided to make the donations to impact on the pupils of Community Primary School, Unimukung, Ukwel-Obudu in and St Patrick’s Primary School,Obudu LGA Area.
“The donation is also a way of reminding ourselves of the importance of giving every child the right kind of knowledge for critical thinking and confidence as well as self-expression and determination, so that they can grow to develop the country as good citizens.
Barbara admonished the school pupils to obey their parents, teachers and the constituted authorities of their schools.
In appreciation, the headmistressof the school, Mrs Lydia Udama expressed gratitude to the foundation for distributing the educational items to the pupils and to support education in the area.
