HON JUDE NGAJI WRITES DG NEMA, REQUESTS FOR RELIEF MATERIALS FOR VICTIMS OF COMMUNAL CLASH IN HIS CONSTITUENCY

 

Lawmaker representing Ogoja/Yala Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Jude Ngaji, has officially applied to the National Emergency Management Agency, NEMA to urgently send relief materials to the people of Mfuma/Ntrigom, South Ukelle in Yala Local government area following communal clashes with their Ibeagu, Izzi neighbours of Izzi LGA of Ebonyi State.

In a letter addressed to the Director-General of NEMA, Mustapha Ahmed, Ngaji pointed out that due to the clash, many people have been incapacitated since their sources of livelihood, businesses, investments, life savings and property worth several millions of naira destroyed.

The letter reads in part, “It is with deep concern and pain in my heart that I write to notify you on the need for quick relief intervention for the people of Mfuma/Ntrigom in Ogoja/Yala Federal Constituency affected by communal clash.

“Consequently, most residents have been dislodged from their homes and are also facing the attendant socio-economic effects to the clash.

“Some of the affected communities are Mfuma, Ntrigom, Ipollo, Ogba, Ijiraga, Benekaba, Ujiama, Okpokodou clans and the entirety of Ujegatom in Ukelle are now lying in ruins owing to a protracted communal conflict over possession of farmlands with their Izzi neighbours.

“It is important that the persons and communities immediately receive relief materials to ease their further human suffering while they go about rebuilding their destroyed houses , ruined businesses and get back on their feet, the lawmaker said.

The lawmaker equally urged members of his constituency to remain calm and wait for NEMA and other federal government support.
