A Revenue Consultant, grassroots politician and businessman, Mr Ovat Agbor has unveiled why he is contesting the 2023 race for Obubra 1 State Constituency, Cross River State House of Assembly, saying he is set to turn around the political fortunes of his people.
Ovat Agbor seeking to contest the state legislative election on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC), said his cardinal focus is to bring back the golden days of legislation and responsible politicking to the Assembly for the good of his people.
He disclosed this recently in Calabar, the State capital; reassuring his constituents of a more proactive representation in 2023.
“I have been in the vanguard for truth and political fairness in Obubra for years. I have also been an apostle of Revamp Obubra. I believe that if Obubra is great, Cross River will be great. believe that politics is a means to govern the people. It is a means by which we can get into government. If the politics is not right, governance will not be right. The reason we have had low quality leadership over the years is because of this.
“That is the first reason I go into politics. I did not get into politics to be an opposition, or to enhance my personal fortune. That is the reason I never sought any government position until now.
“So, my drive in politics, many people have said that they believe my best place in politics will be at the legislature. They said my advocacy is powerful and convincing, and many because of my passion for people and my strong believe that the legislature is actually the fulcrum of government.
“The legislature is the direct representative of the people. All lawmakers are elected by various constituents and they are sent to a place, the Assembly where they can represent the direct interest of their constituents,” he explained.
Ovat Agbor, a psychologist and development practitioner, has been among the loudest voices of Revamp Obubra, and he is ready to serve the good people of Obubra I State Constituency.
